It doesn’t matter what map or mode you prefer to play in Warzone, Assault Rifles are always a great option thanks to their versatility, with the best AR loadouts often dominating the meta.

Assault Rifles are the most adaptable weapons in Call of Duty. Whether you’re shooting an enemy from 10 meters or 100 meters, they can get the job done. Their ability to perform well in most situations is a massive strength that’s exclusive to this weapon class.

Verdansk’s return has brought back fan-favorite Assault Rifles like the Kilo 141 and CR-56 AMAX, and this has drastically shaken up the meta. Here are the best Assault Rifle loadouts and recommended builds to use in Season 3.

Best Assault Rifle loadouts in Warzone

1. CR-56 AMAX

The CR-56 AMAX is the best Assault Rifle in Warzone Season 3, with its high damage, fast bullet velocity, and manageable recoil making it a standout option. 

It’s got the fastest long-range time to kill (TTK) of the meta ARs and an excellent headshot multiplier, making it a dominant at almost every range. While our recommended loadout is built for medium-long range, you can also turn it into a sniper support to pair with your HDR.  

It’s almost impossible to go wrong with the AMAX, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try some other options on our list. 

2. Kilo 141

If you want something easy to use where you don’t even have to think about recoil control, the Kilo 141 is the Assault Rifle for you. 

While it doesn’t kill as fast as the AMAX or AK-74, it’s so much easier to use. Like it was in the original game, it barely moves when holding the trigger down, meaning you won’t struggle to land those shots. The damage isn’t bad either, so you’ll never feel at a disadvantage.

You might lose some face-on-face gunfights to the more powerful options, but it’s extremely forgiving and fun to use. 

3. Cypher 091

The Cypher 091 took the top spot in Warzone Season 2 but has been knocked down following Season 3’s new weapons and the buffs and nerfs. Still, it has high accuracy, great range, and a fast TTK, making it a great option in all the areas that matter.

It actually had its damage buffed in Season 3, making it even better than it was before, but the AMAX and Kilo are still a little bit better if you’re looking for raw power and ease of use.

4. AK-74

Speaking of raw power, the AK-74 has it in droves. If you land your shots, it’s got the fastest TTK among all of the meta ARs (only just beating the AMAX), but its also quite hard to use. 

However, it dominates as a sniper support option. That fast TTK makes it competitive against meta SMGs in close-range, but since it’s an AR, it doesn’t have that steep damage drop off, so it’s much more versatile. If you want something to pair with the HDR, you can’t go wrong with the AK. 

5. GPR 91

An underrated option in Season 3, the GPR 91 got a big buff to its damage, and that’s catapulted it into the meta. Similar to the Kilo, it’s just so easy to use that you’re not going to have much trouble winning gunfights. 

It’s been in and out of the meta in the past, but with reduced visual recoil, a higher headshot multiplier, and better damage range, it’s another great low-recoil option. The Kilo is still slightly better overall, but it’s a fantastic alternative.

Meta analysis

As expected, the classic Verdansk-era weapons that have returned, the CR-56 AMAX and Kilo 141, are dominating the Assault Rifle category. Also, the Swat 5.56 Marksman Rifle has a Grau 5.56 conversion kit that turns it into the classic AR, and it’s very powerful, too.

Still, the AMAX is the best AR in Warzone Season 3. It has the best balance of damage and control, but if you’d rather lean towards one or the other, then the easy-to-use Kilo or hard-hitting AK-74 might be for you.
